Carport Metal Portable
Ooh lah lah - I love my car! If your car is the love of your life then it's time your spoiled it with a carport. Not sure where to
start? Then read on ...
Building Materials
Your new carport can be built from just about any sturdy building material you can think of. Piers can be either timber or steel posts,
or more interestingly made with brick or cement block construction. No matter the material of choice it has to be strong enough to take the
roof frame (usually made from timber or steel tubing) and the roofing material. The key choices are that it be strong, decorative, easy to
paint and easy to access and maintain.
Anchor It Securely
I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your carport down! Don't let this happen to you!. Securing your carport to the ground and/or
your house is a crucial step that must not be overlooked. Forget this step then the first big wind you have will see you new treasure cart
wheeling down the street causing untold damage and endangering lives.
Roofing Material Choices
Steel is strong, light, and easy to work with. Tiles are heavy, expensive, and require more specialised skills to construct. Your
choice of roofing material is the most crucial decision you can make, as it will not only dictate the type and strength of framing materials, but
also the design you choose.
Builder Required
Once you decide on the construction materials you can get an architect to draw up your design. Once you have done that its a choice of
DIY or builder. I recommend a builder but there are lots of good carport kits available these days if you want to save design and
construction costs for you new carport.
